The past of Grizo

The founders of Grizo

Established in 1965 by Henri De Grijze and his son Dennis De Grijze, Grizo bears a name derived from the Dutch term "Grijze & zoon," symbolizing their paternal bond. Originally situated in Roeselare, the company's inaugural logo from 1965 is showcased on the left. This emblematic inception marks the genesis of Grizo's journey, encapsulating a legacy of family-driven craftsmanship.

Grizo's succession

From a tender age, Filip exhibited the spirit of an entrepreneur, lending a hand to his parents, Cyriel and Christina, in their business endeavors. As the years unfurled, this innate passion propelled Filip and his wife, Edith, to turn their dream into reality by assuming control of Grizo in 1997. Having acquired the reins of Grizo, nestled in Roeselare, they set their sights on Pittem, where their aspirations truly flourished. While Grizo initially specialized in avian and rodent offerings, Filip and Edith harbored grander visions. Their ambition birthed an expansion in Pittem, not only broadening their inventory but also ushering in a fresh array of products. This strategic move bolstered Grizo's capacity to cater to a diverse clientele, facilitating the distribution of multiple brands that resonated with customer expectations. Today, the legacy continues, a testament to Filip and Edith's unwavering dedication to elevating Grizo to unprecedented heights.

The follow-up

Grizo's soaring demand has led to its expansion into international markets, including France, Netherlands, and Luxembourg, as well as non-EU exports. The 2015 acquisition of Braet NV in Bruges marked a significant turning point. This strategic move not only bolstered Grizo's status as a wholesaler but also established it as a prominent producer of bird seeds. By 2020, Grizo had further optimized its operations, relocating production to Moorslede and embracing full automation for enhanced efficiency and modernized manufacturing processes. The entrance of Niels and Aloïs, the progeny of founders Filip and Edith, into the company in 2019, has invigorated efforts to expand Grizo's reach and influence, promising a dynamic future for the enterprise.
